SECRETS WOMEN KEEP II

In 2014 Lesley Asare and Indigo Williams (I Shape Beauty) were commissioned by The Body Narratives to create Secrets Women Keep, a poetry and visual arts installation for the 'A Different Mirror' Exhibition.

For the AACDD Festival installation, inspired by Jada Pinkett-Smith’s ‘Red Table Talks,’ Lesley facilitated a discussion with her mother (Veronica Tandoh) and younger sister (Roxanne Asare) to explore their views on body image, womanhood, the dynamics of the mother-daughter relationship & the value of intimate spaces of open communication between women in the family.

The installation consisted of three gum tape sculptures representing each woman and the space she takes up in the family as well as an audio recording of fragment of their conversation.
